A Case of Hyperthyroidism associated with Myasthenia Gravis

Abstract
A forty-three years old woman, who complained of generalized muscle weakness, anorexia and cough was admitted- for consultation, Physical examination revealed poor development, malnutrition, diffusely enlarged thyroid gland and diminished breathing sound in right lower lung field. I131 uptake test of thyroid gland indicated the increased uptake rate; 18% of uptake in 2 hr, 37% in 6 hr and 87% in 24 hr. Roentgenological examination for chest confirmed pneumonia of right lung. The other laboratory ¢¥examination showed no other specific findings. Diagnosis was made as hyperthyroidism associated with myasthenia gravis with complication of pneumonia. Considerable recovery was obtained after 3 months of therapy with the administration of methyl-thiouracil, ATP, vagostigmin and some antibiotics.
